I'm Nelly Diaz, founder and insurance advisor at ONE Insurance Advisors. I believe insurance should be more than something you purchase, renew, and file away. You should understand what you're buying, why you have it, and how it is designed to protect you and your family.
My perspective on insurance began long before I became an agent. Before becoming an insurance agent, I worked for an insurance carrier's in-house law firm, where I was involved with the defense of insureds who were sued.
Month after month, I saw hundreds of lawsuits move through the office. I saw firsthand the significant costs an insurance company could pay to defend its policyholder— without those defense costs reducing the liability limits the client had purchased.
That experience changed the way I looked at insurance.
I began to see a policy not simply as a monthly expense, but as immediate financial protection you may not have available on your own when life takes an unexpected turn.
And that's what ultimately led me to become an insurance agent.

Insurance can be complicated. There are deductibles, exclusions, limits, endorsements, conditions and coverage options—and unfortunately, many people have carried insurance for years without really understanding what their policy does.
